Designed for diversified business IT environments, the TVS-972XU features an 8th generation Intel® Core™ processor, Mellanox® ConnectX®-4 Lx 10GbE controller, and PCIe expansion for 25GbE / 40GbE connectivity to boost intensive large file sharing, heavily-loaded backups, or virtualization applications. Its hybrid storage architecture with four 3.5-inch HDD and five 2.5-inch SSD drive bays allows for enabling SSD caching and Qtier™ auto-tiering technology for a significant performance boost. PCIe expandability also allows for installing graphics cards to empower AI workflows and video transcoding, and the 4K HDMI 2.0 output can display surveillance videos on a monitor or TV to improve surveillance management.

The TVS-972XU features an 8th Gen Intel® Core™ i3-8100 quad-core 3.6 GHz processor and up to 64 GB DDR4 memory, delivering higher performance to help you accomplish more tasks efficiently. It provides two Gigabit and two 10GbE SFP+ LAN ports, supports SATA 6Gb/s drives, and features AES-NI encryption for delivering high performance while also maintaining the security of your data.
Dual-channel memory delivers power-smart performance
The TVS-972XU supports dual-channel DDR4 memory in four Long-DIMM slots. When using paired memory modules, the TVS-972XU can leverage the power of dual-channel architecture to boost performance. You also customize the memory configuration (supports up to 64 GB RAM) of the TVS-972XU for greater performance to tackle dynamically-changing workloads such as virtualization.

The TVS-972XU is a 9-bay hybrid storage solution supporting 3.5-inch hard drives and 2.5-inch hard drives/SSDs in one chassis. Its high-quality hardware and expandable architecture enable optimum performance and flexibility to fulfill business needs in performance and application diversification.
Dual 10GbE connectivity optimizes high-speed data transfer and VMware virtualization with iSER
The TVS-972XU provides two 10GbE SFP+ ports that use the Mellanox® ConnectX®-4 Lx SmartNIC controller. They support the iSCSI Extensions for RDMA (iSER) protocol, allowing data to bypass general network drivers, the socket layer, and to directly enter memory buffers of the ESXi server and storage to offload CPU workloads. When both the VMware® server and the TVS-972XU support iSER, it can provide up to 60% increased random read/write performance and 50% decreased latency, providing an essential tool to optimize demanding virtualization applications.

Empower GPU-accelerated computing with graphics cards
Graphics cards are optimized for graphical calculations and transformations. The TVS-972XU provides a PCIe slot for installing an AMD Radeon™ or NVIDIA® graphics card to boost data-intensive AI machine learning, while also providing benefits for imaging processing and virtual machine performance (via GPU passthrough).

By enabling Qtier™ auto-tiering on the TVS-972XU, organizations can just buy the amount of SSDs needed, and attain the highest value/performance and optimal storage efficiency for data storage and sharing.

SSD caches accelerate IOPS performance and reduce latency for storage volumes. They are perfect for IOPS-demanding applications (including databases and virtualization) and can significantly improve overall workflows. The TVS-972XU also supports write-only SSD caches to greatly boost write-intensive applications and also RAID 5/6 SSD caches for higher performance and caching space.

Qtier™ Technology empowers the TVS-972XU with auto tiering that helps continuously optimize storage efficiency by automatically moving data between 2.5-inch SSDs and high-capacity HDDs based on the data's access frequency. Qtier™ 2.0 features IO-awareness that empowers SSD-tiered storage with a cache-like reserved space to handle burst I/O in real time, greatly maximizing the advantages of SSDs.

With SSD prices continuing to fall, even small businesses and home users can easily integrate cost-effective SSDs to boost their NAS performance. The TVS-972XU supports software-defined SSD extra over-provisioning (OP) that allows you to allocate additional OP space (from 1% to 60%) to optimize random write speeds and to extend SSD lifespan. Now you can use affordable consumer SSDs for the TVS-972XU, adjust the SSD OP, and potentially attain performance and endurance levels similar to enterprise-grade SSDs to enjoy faster file backups, smoother multimedia experiences, and optimized virtualization applications.

The TVS-972XU has an HDMI 2.0 port which supports 4K (3840 x 2160) 60Hz output, allowing you to directly display surveillance videos and media files on a monitor or TV via HD Station. Featuring advanced Intel® UHD Graphics 630, the TVS-972XU provides high-quality 4K (H.264) and 1080p video transcoding, and you can easily convert videos to universal file formats that can be smoothly played on multiple devices

The Network & Virtual Switch application allows you to leverage limited physical network resources for unlimited virtual applications and centrally manage the entire network structure with a brilliantly-visualized network topology map. Flexible manageability enables you to reorganize physical and virtual network connections with greater ease, so you can allocate adequate network resources to the TVS-972XU, virtual machines and containers whenever needed. The network deployment is greatly simplified while your network management efficiency is greatly improved.

Optimized collaboration with seamless file sharing and sync
The TVS-972XU centrally stores data and files, and supports SMB/CIFS, AFP and NFS protocols for file sharing across Windows®, Mac®, and Linux®/UNIX® networks. Coupled with Qsync (a utility that turns a QNAP NAS into a safe, high-capacity data center for file synchronization) any file uploaded to the TVS-972XU will be made available for all linked devices, such as computers, laptops and mobile devices. You can sync shared folders and team folders for group file sharing to enhance the flexibility of team projects and collaboration. Files can be centrally managed using File Station, including files from mobile devices and optical disc drives. File Station also allows you to mount a remote NAS, and transfer files between your NAS and public cloud services for greater convenience.
